my experience
I went to Argentina with my orchestra during our tour to South America (You can read the whole blog about the trip, written by my conductor Benjamin Zander). We stopped to play concerts in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario, and when we weren't rehearsing or performing, I got to roam the cities a bit on my own. I loved getting to know the cities wither alone or with a group of orchestra friends. The most rewarding experience of all, though, was when we went to visit and play for school children from the poorest districts outside Buenos Aires.
basic facts
must-go-to placesI didn't have much time for tourism between outreach and our concert schedule, but here are some notes on the cities I visited:
Buenos Aires - famous for being very modern, it almost feels like being in a city in the US. I recommend the nearby flea market if it's open, because it showed more authentic Argentinian culture. Cordoba - my favorite city in Argentina, because although it's very clean and beautiful, I felt like I got a good sense of the South American culture there. I had a whole afternoon to explore Cordoba with my friends and have lunch in one of the bars in the center.
