my experienceWhen people ask me what my favorite country is, I usually say it’s Nepal. Nepal has the perfect mixture of the culture and colors of India and the laid-back feeling of the mountains. The cities are bustling with life, and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and beautiful Hindu temples to visit. When you leave Kathmandu and drive through the mountains, you'll be blown away by the views: The rolling hills have acres of rice patties, with quaint villages nestled in between and the stunning Himalayas towering above.
And don't leave Nepal without going on at least a short trek through the mountains themselves! Hikers get to see amazing Nepalese jungles up close and personal, and the feeling of resting with a hot drink in a mountain inn, after hours of walking, is one of the most gratifying in the world. Plus with other tourists on the same trail, you get to meet people from all over the world! |

personal tips
I went in the off season, so the views of the stunning Himalayas were almost always blocked by clouds, and leeches were a constant struggle on my rainy mountain trek. If you want to have the best tourist experience and you don’t mind the crowds, I would go during the early summer.
