My experience
Ecuador is a very diverse and exciting country, I feel that each location provides a great time in its own unique way. There is always something new around the corner. The people are really nice and open. Even though spanish is the native language many people speak English. The amount of pure nature this country holds is truly astonishing. You feel extremely immersed and technological distractions are forgotten. I have had an amazing time in each part of the country and I recommend it highly. I have had so many amazing memories from each of these places. If you're an adventurous person this country is definitely the country for you.
general personal Tips
- Ecuador is at a very high altitude and it is always important to remember not to run the first couple of days and to keep water and gatorade with you. (nosebleeds may occur with dryness of atmosphere but it is not uncommon)
- Sunscreen is key because the altitude makes you closer to the sun making your skin more vulnerable to getting burnt- sensitive skin can even blister if sunscreen is not applied every hour or so.
- When it comes to markets and street vendors always remember to haggle because many will even drop prices by half.
Also remember that is the amazon there are various amounts of bugs some of which are bigger than usual. There are ants that are about the size of a fifty cent coin which are poisonous. That is why it is very important to wear long pants and high boots
