OVERALL EXPERIENCE
In Zambia I only really did two activities, spend time with elephants and go to the Waterfalls, but honestly it was more than enough. I didn’t go on the safari because I was going to do that in Zimbabwe. The lodge offered so many adventures I wish I could have done, but my mom didn’t let me such as the zipline because of the height of the drop. The elephants are very majestic animals and can be very sweet, but they are one of the top five most dangerous animals so you can’t underestimate them. I have never had a problem with getting wet, in fact, I love water so the hike around Victoria falls was an interesting, beautiful, and truly fun experience. I loved the fact that the deeper I got the stronger the spray of the water was, but it never got too bad where I felt cold or couldn’t see. The hike wasn’t very hard either you just had to avoid tripping on vines and rocks.
PERSONAL TIPS
- I would say to listen to the hotel people, they really try to form a good program around the amount of time you’re staying and what kind of experience you are looking for
- Even if you don’t like hiking, go to the falls and at least do the beginning of the hike. The scenery will have you dumbfounded.
- The food is part of the experience, don’t be afraid to try impala, buffalo, or their fish or beans. Maybe the taste won’t be your favorite, but they have excellent food and it’s part of their culture
- Pay attention when they teach you about the elephants, not only will you leave more informed on one of the country’s most beloved animals, but you’ll learn how they interact with their habitat and fun facts that are great to know during the ride
