my experience
I went to Uruguay with my orchestra to play a concert in the theater in Montevideo during our tour to South America (you can read the whole blog about the trip, written by my conductor Benjamin Zander). We stayed two nights in a hotel, and when we weren't rehearsing or performing, I got to explore Montevideo a bit with my friends. On our last day there, we played an outreach concert with kids from a local community orchestra. My experienc of Uruguay was brief, but it was my favorite country from tour.

Must go to places
- Uruguayan Barbecue restaurant: If you stop in Uruguay, you have to try their grilled steak. On our last night, my orchestra went to a barbecue restaurant with a method of eating I was not used to. They served bread and salad as a buffet, and the main dish(es) were countless types of meat, which the waiters brought out on giant kebab sticks! It's not a place for vegetarians.
personal tips
- Montevideo is a cute town, but as far as I could tell, the nightlife is practically non-existant. If you're out for night life and a fun time in the city, I suggest somewhere else
